AI Transparency

How We Use AI
Unveil integrates artificial intelligence to help research teams work more efficiently. Our AI features assist with tasks such as summarizing research sessions, identifying patterns across interviews, generating discussion guides, and surfacing insights from qualitative data. These features are designed to augment — not replace — the judgment of experienced researchers.
AI-generated outputs should be treated as a starting point for analysis. We encourage users to review, validate, and apply their own expertise to any AI-generated content before acting on it.
AI Providers
Unveil uses large language models (LLMs) provided by third-party AI companies to power certain features. Our current AI providers include Anthropic and OpenAI. We evaluate providers based on their data handling practices, security posture, and alignment with our privacy commitments.
We maintain data processing agreements with all AI providers to ensure your data is handled according to applicable privacy requirements.
Customer Data and AI Processing
When you use AI features in Unveil, your data — including research transcripts, notes, and uploaded materials — may be sent to our AI providers for processing. This processing is done solely to generate the output you requested.
We limit data sent to AI providers to what is necessary for the specific task. We do not send data beyond what is needed, and we do not use AI outputs to build profiles of your participants or users beyond the scope of your research session.
Model Training
Unveil does not use your Customer Data to train, fine-tune, or improve foundational AI models without your explicit written consent. Our AI providers are contractually prohibited from using data submitted through Unveil’s API integrations for general model training purposes.
If we introduce any opt-in program that would use your data to improve AI features specifically within Unveil, we will notify you clearly and obtain your consent before doing so.
Human Oversight
Unveil’s AI features are designed to support human decision-making, not to operate autonomously. All consequential outputs — such as research summaries, insight reports, and analysis — are presented to the user for review before any action is taken.
We do not use AI to make automated decisions that have legal or significant effects on research participants. Researchers remain in control of how outputs are interpreted and applied.
Security and Privacy
Data sent to AI providers is transmitted over encrypted connections. We apply the same access controls and security standards to AI-processed data as we do to all Customer Data on the platform.
For enterprise customers, we offer options to configure AI feature access and data handling at the organizational level. Contact us at security@joinunveil.com for details on enterprise data controls.
Responsible AI Principles
We are committed to using AI in a way that is transparent, fair, and respectful of the people whose data is involved in research. Our principles include:
Transparency — we tell you when AI is involved in generating content and which providers we use
Accuracy — we surface AI limitations and encourage validation of outputs
Privacy — we minimize data exposure and prohibit use of your data for model training
Human control — AI outputs are always subject to researcher review before use
Fairness — we work to identify and mitigate bias in AI-generated analysis
